Refractory castables are special materials used in high temperature environments, usually used to manufacture linings and furnaces of high temperature equipment. According to different components, uses and process requirements, refractory castables can be divided into many types.
1. Silicate castables
Silicate castables are castables that use silicate water glass as a binder. It has the advantages of high temperature resistance, thermal shock resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and is widely used in high temperature equipment in metallurgy, thermal power generation, petrochemical and other industries. The main components of silicate castables are silicon oxide, aluminum oxide and calcium oxide.
2. Aluminate castables
Aluminate castables are castables that use aluminate water glass as a binder. Its refractoriness is higher than that of silicate castables and can be used above 1400℃. The main components of aluminate castables are aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide and calcium oxide.
3. Phosphate castables
Phosphate castables are castables that use phosphate water glass as a binder. Its main components are phosphoric acid, alumina and magnesium oxide. Phosphate castables have better refractoriness, thermal shock resistance and chemical erosion resistance than silicate castables and aluminate castables.
4. Alumina castable
Alumina castable is a castable with alumina as the main component. It has extremely high refractoriness and can be used above 1700℃. Alumina castables also have good thermal shock resistance and chemical erosion resistance, but the cost is high and it is usually used for special needs in high-temperature industrial fields.
5. Alumina silicate castable
Alumina silicate castable is a castable with aluminum silicate as the main component. It has good high temperature resistance and strong thermal shock resistance. Alumina silicate castable also has good corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and is often used for lining of high-temperature equipment such as furnaces, sintering machines, and metallurgical equipment.
6. Silicon carbide castable
Silicon carbide castable is a castable with silicon carbide as the main component. It has extremely high temperature resistance and thermal shock resistance, and has good oxidation resistance and chemical stability. Silicon carbide castables are usually used in the smelting process of high-temperature molten metal.
There are many types of refractory castables, and different types of castables are widely used in different fields. When selecting and using refractory castables, it is necessary to select the most suitable material according to the specific process requirements and use environment to ensure the safe and stable operation of the equipment.
