The performance of erosion-resistant and wear-resistant castables and their application in industrial furnaces

Mar 12,2025

The following is an introduction to the performance of erosion-resistant and wear-resistant castables and their application in industrial furnaces:

Performance of erosion-resistant and wear-resistant castables

1•High wear resistance: Using high-hardness aggregates and high-quality binders, such as corundum, silicon carbide, etc. as aggregates, the Mohs hardness can reach about 9, which can effectively resist the erosion and wear of materials during transportation and mixing, and extend the service life of the furnace lining.

2•Strong corrosion resistance: Through reasonable formula design and process control, it has good chemical stability. At high temperatures, it can resist the erosion of various corrosive media in the furnace, such as acidic or alkaline slag, high-temperature gas, etc., and reduce the dissolution and deterioration of materials.

3•Good high-temperature performance: The refractoriness is usually between 1650℃ - 1800℃, which can withstand the high temperature environment of industrial furnaces. At the same time, it can still maintain high strength and stability at high temperatures to avoid softening, deformation or cracking due to temperature changes.

4•Excellent thermal shock stability: During the frequent heating and cooling process of the furnace, it can withstand the rapid temperature changes without cracking or peeling. This is due to its reasonable particle grading and the addition of thermal shock resistant additives, such as zircon, which can effectively buffer thermal stress.

5•Good construction performance: It has good fluidity and plasticity, which is convenient for construction methods such as pouring and spraying. It can adapt to the construction of furnace linings of various complex shapes and sizes, and can be quickly formed on site to improve construction efficiency.

Application in industrial furnaces

1•Steel industry: In the iron outlet ditch, ladle and other parts of the blast furnace, the erosion-resistant and wear-resistant castable can resist the scouring and erosion of high-temperature molten iron and slag; in the lining of the converter, the lining of the ladle and other parts, it can withstand the impact of high-temperature molten steel and the erosion of slag, and improve the service life and production efficiency of the equipment.

2. Cement industry: In the transition zone and burning zone of cement rotary kiln, the erosion-resistant castable can resist the wear of high-temperature materials and the erosion of alkaline gas; in the preheater, decomposition furnace and other parts, it can withstand the erosion of high-temperature airflow and materials, ensuring the stable operation of cement production equipment.

3. Nonferrous metallurgy industry: In the melting furnace and refining furnace of nonferrous metals such as copper and aluminum, the erosion-resistant castable can resist the erosion of high-temperature molten metal and slag, protect the furnace structure, increase the service life of the furnace, and reduce maintenance costs.

4. Glass industry: In the pool wall and flow hole of the glass melting furnace, the erosion-resistant castable can resist the erosion and erosion of high-temperature glass liquid, ensure the normal operation of the glass melting furnace, and improve the quality and output of glass.
