Firebrick is divided into five kinds according to its composition: Si-Al series firebrick, alkaline series firebrick, carbon firebrick, zircon content brick, insulating brick. Any furnace will be lined by using different firebrick.
1、AL2O3—SiO2 is existed as the basic composition of Si-Al series firebrick, Si-Al series firebrick include:
(一)Silicon brick,the main product of acid firebrick, mainly used in coke oven,also glass,ceramic furnace,carbonate calcining kiln, the top of thermal kiln and other supporting parts like in hot blast stove.It’s not suitable to use in the thermal equipment of large temperature fluctuate and heat environment less than 600℃.
(二) Clay brick, is composed by mullite(25%~50%), glass phase(25%~60%), cristobalite and quartz(max.30%).Generally, hard paste used as the raw material previously become mature material after calcining,then mixing soft paste, by semi drying craft or shaping to burn under the temperature of 1300-1400, at the end to get the clay brick product. It is also made non-sintering or unshaped material by mixing water glass and cement. Clay brick was widely used in the furnaces like blast furnace,hot blast stove,power boiler, lime kiln, rotary kiln, glass kiln, ceramic and fire assisting kiln etc.
(三)High aluminum brick is composed by corundum, mullite and glass phase, its content was determined by the ratio of AL2O3/ SiO2 and the impurity kind and quantity. It was divided into different grades as the content of Al2O3.The raw material for making high aluminum brick are high aluminum bauxite and silimanite or mixing fused cast corundum, sinter aluminum oxide, synthetic mullite etc. It was made by sinter technology. It was widely used in steel industry, ferrous metal industry.
(四)Corundum firebrick, the content of Al2O3 is not less than 90%, corundum as the main phase. It include sintered corundum brick and fused cast corundum brick.
