Performance of aluminum-silicon carbide castables and their application in ladles Aluminum-silicon carbide castables are amorphous refractory castables made of high-quality high-alumina bauxite clinker and silicon carbide as the main materials, with the addition of pure aluminate cement binder and a variety of additives. The following is an introduction to its performance and application in ladles:

I. Performance characteristics of aluminum-silicon carbide castables

1•Good high temperature resistance: The refractory temperature can reach 1770~2000℃, and it can withstand molten iron temperatures of 1300-1450℃ or even higher.

2•Strong corrosion resistance: It has strong resistance to corrosion by molten iron and slag. Silicon carbide can reduce some low-melting-point substances and reduce corrosion.

3•Excellent thermal shock resistance: It can withstand the rapid cooling and heating changes of the molten iron ladle during the process of filling and pouring molten iron, and the volume change is small during reburning, and it is not easy to crack due to thermal stress.

4• Strong anti-scouring performance: Under the scouring of molten iron, it has good wear resistance, can maintain the integrity of the lining, and extend the service life.

5• Good construction performance: It can be constructed quickly, can be cast as a whole, is easy to repair and dismantle, can be quickly baked without bursting.

6• Excellent environmental performance: It does not produce harmful gases during use, does not stick to slag, and is conducive to maintaining the cleanliness of the ladle and the quality of the molten iron.

2. Application of aluminum-silicon carbide castables in molten iron ladles

1• Application advantages: It can effectively resist the scouring and thermal shock stress of high-temperature molten iron, reduce the chemical erosion of molten iron and slag, and the influence of air oxidation, greatly extend the service life of the ladle, and reduce the maintenance frequency and cost. Compared with refractory bricks, the construction is more convenient and faster, and the air tightness is also stronger.

2• Precautions: Before construction, it is necessary to ensure that the surface of the ladle is clean, dry, free of debris and oil, etc., to ensure a good combination of the castable and the ladle wall. Strictly follow the prescribed ratio and construction process, control the amount of water added, mixing time and other parameters to ensure the performance of the castable.

According to the actual situation such as the frequency of use of the ladle and the temperature of the molten iron, regularly check the condition of the lining and repair or replace it in time.
