Corundum block is a refractory product made of corundum based crystalline phase in which the alumina content is more than 90%. Corundum block can be divided into two kinds which are sintered corundum brick and fused corundum brick. They are made by sintering alumina and fused corundum as raw materials or combining Al2O3 / SiO2 bauxite clinker and with sintered alumina, then produced by sintering method.
Corundum block has excellent physical property in high temperature, such as very high cold crushing strength which can be up to 340MPa, high refractoriness under load which is more than 1700℃, good chemical stability and strong resistance to slag.
Corundum block is widely used in lining of ovens of petrochemical industry; bottom of steel rolling mill and in the second-stage converters of the 300000t ammonia synthesis furnaces, steel notch. It is mainly used in key parts of the industrial furnace that require high abrasion and temperature resistance, such as gliding rail bricks in steel pusher metallurgical furnaces, the tapping platform (tapping spout) style walking beam furnaces, and also as the interior for destructors.
